Hope all my followers had a very Happy Thanksgiving. i worked 12 hours in the ER and astonishingly, one of the least busy holidays I have worked in the past 20 years.
Luckily, every day bears so much for me to be thankful so I can celebrate on non-traditional days. For my family, our celebratory meal will be tomorrow.
This evening i begin the preparatory steps. I've already steamed two small pumpkins and scooped them out. I've mixed in the ingredients needed for pumpkin pie. The cornbread for the dressing is baking. I'll soon boil eggs, make a cake, make pie crust and get the pies baked. As I opted out of fresh corn and fresh green beans to save time for visiting family but will still do creamed potatoes, giblet gravy and dressing, the turkey, crescent rolls etc.
I don't do the Black Friday thing. I don't like feeling like I'm being stampeded. I definitely don't like being shoved and having shopping carts run up my calves, abrading my Achilles tendons. This happens enough on any other day.
I will check the next week to see if I can get items I want for my loved ones, but I won't be camping in front of stores and fighting for the only item listed on the special.
